Spring Family Campout 2010 PDF Print E-mail

Camping is always fun! The Spring Campout is scheduled for April 17th. UPDATED 4-12

We will be going to Hidden Cove Park again, camping in the same area as before.

The Official Pack Campout is on Saturday April 17th, with optional Family Camping on Friday the 16th.

Lots of fun is being planned, including Cub Olympics, Root Beer Making, Stomp Rockets, Hiking and lots more! If the sky is clear after dark, we can do some stargazing with a telescope.

The boys are welcome to bring their bikes to ride during free time (helmet required). They can also do some fishing if they like.

Here are a few things you should know:

  1. The Pack pays for the campsite reservation for both nights. The park also charges a $10 per car, per night fee that you are responsible for.
  2. We cannot collect firewood at the campsite, you must bring your own.
  3. Restrooms and running water are on site, but do not depend on there being soap and toilet paper.
  4. A suggested camping checklist is here
  5. Map to Hidden cove is here: http://tinyurl.com/yam6dcr
  6. Map of the campsite can be downloaded here
  7. The Pack will be providing smoked brisket and chicken legs for Saturday night dinner. Dens should provide their own sides.

We will also be having the Dutch Oven Dessert Cookoff for the coveted Golden Spoon again. All are encouraged to participate and there will be plenty of dessert for everyone! New for this year are 2nd and 3rd place trophies, made by current champion, Neil L.

Friday evening there will be "Cracker Barrel" around a campfire. This is a social gathering with dessert.

You don't want to miss the magic fire-lighting at the campfire on Saturday night. Each den will be performing a skit or telling jokes and an adult from each den will be telling a story.
